The new Fellsman year has begun. This year’s Fellsman Committee, headed by our new Event Organiser Shona Brunskill, got together for the first meeting of the year armed with the odd pint of Yorkshire’s finest ales and a ridiculous number of donuts! First on the agenda… the date of the 2018 event. Thankfully we won’t be clashing with the Tour de Yorkshire in 2018 as the 56th Fellsman will be taking place on the 28th and 29th April 2018.
One item on the agenda was the Fellsman handbook. From very humble beginnings the Fellsman handbook has swelled to a mighty tome in recent years and this year very nearly tipped us over the postal limit, so we’ve decided to take a look at it with a fresh pair of eyes. We have a new handbook editor, who has promised to keep an eye out for those pesky gremlins we seemed plagued by, and who is curious as to what you, the entrants, want from your handbook. So below is a poll to gauge what kind of handbook you’d like best – weighty tome, stripped down pamphlet, or somewhere in-between. Cast your vote, or if you’d prefer drop us a line to the website with suggestions… Enquiring minds (at least those on the Fellsman Committee) want to know your thoughts.
The next post will be out shortly – we have an exciting opportunity for a Fellsman aficionado who might like to see the event from a different perspective – so check back soon!
N.B. Just a quick addition – we’ve had a lot of people asking us when entries open for the 2018 event. The entries will go live online on 1st Jan 2018 sometime after midnight (we don’t say when as we crashed the site one year when everyone tried to enter at once!). We will confirm the price in the next month or so, we are just doing the sums!
