So how exactly have we got to March already? The last time I checked I was looking at the January entry form rush to see how many entrants we had. But it genuinely is March, even though the weather appears to be stuck in January. The Committee has been very busy behind the scenes getting ready for this year’s event so we thought it was about time we updated you on a few bits and pieces…
We have lots but still have places available for anyone still considering entering and wondering if they are too late. You’re not, and you can enter right now by clicking on this link.
Those of you who have entered in the last couple of years will know that we now ask you to sign a waiver at the start in order to meet some of the conditions of our insurance. We are aware that the paper we ask you sign has a lot of very small text on it (we are trying to save the planet one tree at a time) and early morning is not a good time to take all the legal speak on board, so we have put the text of the waiver on a page all of its own under the Event tab. Have a look at it here. In a day or so I will add a download link to allow you to down load a copy that you can fill in and sign to bring with you on the weekend.
They are ready and are being delivered to us from the printers tomorrow. This weekend will see the Committee embarking on the great envelope stuffing exercise and they should be with you towards the end of next week.
Not entering but free that weekend?
If you don’t feel up to entering this year, or have sustained an inconvenient injury that means you can’t tackle 62 miles of anything, you would be very welcome on the event experiencing it from the other side. We always have lots of jobs both at HQ and out in the field which are just waiting for an enthusiastic volunteer. If you are interested just drop us an email or contact us via the Contact Form and let us know when over the weekend you would like to help (any length of time is great) and whether you are interested in helping at HQ or out in the field.
Keep checking back for updates. We hope the training is going well and look forward to seeing you on the weekend (when hopefully the Beast From the East will be a distant memory)
