Online entries now open

After a few teething troubles Online Entries are now open. There is an online entries tab in the menu bar above which will allow you to both enter the event and, for those who have already entered, add extras such as meals or transport to your order. Initially there will be 100 places available online but additional places may be made available depending on demand. If you are entering online we advise you download the PDF of the entry form which gives details of all the rules.

Online entries opening 10th January

Online entries will be opening on 10th January at 20:13 (just to give the committee a laugh – we’re easily amused!). There will be an online entries tab in the menu bar above which will allow you to both enter the event and, for those who have already entered, add extras such as meals or transport to your order. Initially there will be 100 places available online but additional places may be made available depending on demand. If you are entering online we advise you download the PDF of the entry form which gives details of all the rules.

Welcome to the New Website

Well, here it is! The new, and hopefully improved website. It’s early days and not all of the content from the old site has been transferred across yet but all the critical content is there for entering this year’s event. We’re on a bit of a steep learning curve so not everything may work as well as we would like. Thank you all for your patience while we iron out the kinks and if you find anything broken please let us know.

Over the next few days and weeks we hope to restore all the previously available content and add a whole lot more, including pages devoted to The North Face, competitions, and the ability for you to leave your comments. But we want to know what you want to see here; let us know via the Contact Us page and we’ll do our best to oblige.

2013 Entry Form

Well, I can’t believe we have got round to December again. It only seems last month that we were battling with certificate printing and mail shots of tallies and results. I hope every one has had a great summer – it was certainly an eventful one!

Although it’s been really quiet on the blog front, behind the scenes this year’s committee have been inordinately busy putting together the 51st event, which will take place on the 27th and 28th April 2013. As part of preparing for this year’s Fellsman, we’ve been taking stock of the events on the 50th Fellsman, which I am sure you will all agree, was unforgettable for many reasons, not all good!

As a result we have reviewed the rules and kit list for the event, and undertaken an overhaul of the entry form which we have been advised needs to contain additional information, in the event we are again faced with weather conditions such as we had last April. The entry form is now available to download as a pdf.

Please can we ask that you read the rules and notes carefully, even if you are a veteran of the event, as there have been some important changes, and help us by providing all the requested information.

In the next couple of days we will also be sending out an email to previous entrants carrying a copy of the entry form and highlighting the changes to the rules. If you would prefer a hard copy of the entry form sending to you please let us know.

2012 Results Available

Just to let you know that the 2012 results are now available. Thank you for your patience whilst the Committee tackled some of the thorny issues that this year’s event raised. A mail shot containing the formal results leaflet will be sent out in the next day or so, and we will be posting your certificates and tallies out shortly. If you require a hard copy of the results leaflet please can you let us know via email as soon as possible.

We know that many of our entrants are also taking part in the 2012 Ultra-running Championships (UC). Having asked for comment from registered runners, the team at the UC have advised us as follows:

“Those who fully completed the course will be awarded championship points in the usual way. Unfortunately, we cannot award points to those who had to be pulled from the course; this was a difficult decision for the event organisers but absolutely the right one to ensure the safety of competitors.
The good news is that anyone who completes their 3 other events and was still running/hiking at the time the event was suspended will be eligible to win their runfurther/inov-8 cap.
Additionally, we will be picking several entrants from the event as random spot prize winners including one luck winner of a Silva X-Trail lighting system. Names will be published on www.runfurther.com in the next few days.”

We have also contacted the organisers of the UTMB regarding their position but have not yet received a response. As soon as we hear anything we will post a notification on the blog.
